Ryan turned 27 this past Friday! AND I will never be able to make fun of how old he is because I will always be older than him! He is very grateful for this fact because he knows I would hold it over his head every year if he was older than me, now Ryan on the other hand is a much better and nicer person than I am and has yet to do that with me. Ask me again when I turn 35 or 40 and let's see if he is still nice..
I had a few different plans for Ryan's birthday but it ended up being too hot so we decided to check out a restaurant that was recommended to us called DW Bistro off of Russell and Fort Apache (the turkey burger...aaaahhhhmazing) and then hit up the movie theater out at Town Square and saw the movie Super 8 which I enjoyed alot more than I thought I was going to. We kept it low key and ended up having a great night. Ryan got clothes and shoes for his birthday and couldn't have been happier...he loves clothes as much as I do. I see years and years ahead of hurting the pocketbook in buying clothes.
All of Ryan's siblings are in town this week for a mini family reunion and we were able to host a little swimming and BBQ birthday party for Ryan on Saturday. It was alot of fun, all the nephews and nieces swam until we had to drag them out of the pool. We had some cake and ice cream and the kids all helped Uncle Ryan blow out the candles.
Saturday night, after everyone had went home and napped, we all hit up the annual North Stake Pioneer Day's celebration, they go all out with food and games and a pretty good firework show. The boys were able to play some games and shove there faces full of sugar once again. It was a really fun night.
My parents also came back from Salt Lake this weekend, and while they were not up for coming out to the Pioneer Day celebration (they are still getting used to the temp change from the 80's to the high 100's) they did come over on Sunday night for dinner, along with my baby brother and my friend Melanie. I made the Pioneer Woman's homemade meatloaf and it turned out pretty good.
We are excited Ryan's Aunt Shari is coming to stay with us for a few days, we plan to go out to dinner with her tomorrow night and then Friday we have a adults only dinner and Saturday another swimming and BBQ day. Should make for a great weekend.
P.S. Costco's chocolate cake is not only delicious but worth every penny of the $17.99 you pay for it. It is so big it lasted not only for the BBQ on Saturday, dessert with my family on Sunday, dessert for Ryan and I on Monday and I gave the rest to our friends the Edgel's today to get it out of the house!
