Weekend Vaca here we come!

I need to get outta dodge bad, so I am so glad we booked a room on Hotwire a couple months ago for my birthday weekend in San Diego.  It couldn't come at a better time.  I'm tired and need to not think.

Ryan and I decided to do a 2nd retrieval to increase our chances of having a baby,  the more eggs you have the better the chance.  So as much as it pained our pocket book and more especially me, we sucked it up and did it.   We decided not to tell anyone to take the pressue off of us. We had our retrieval this past Monday and now we have 8 frozen eggs.  We are hoping 2-4 of them turn out to be high quality embryos when they are thawed and that it results in us having a little bambino!  Especially because,  we dont have the time, money or will power to do this again right now.   This time was rough,  the medicine got tripled to produce more eggs and my recovery has been anything but quick.  So now we wait until August,  July is a completely IVF free month and I am THRILLED (So is my backside,  its sooooreeee)!

Here is me right after surgery.  Lovely I know :)

My birthday was yesterday and we didn't do anything,  we stayed home and Ryan made me dinner.  I still dont feel well and we are really going to celebrate this weekend in CA.  Ryan is taking me to some restaraunt he won't tell me about and I think we are going to check out the Wild Animal Park.  It should be fun, even though I can't swim or have sex. lol  I know that's personal but it's my blog and I am bummed!  Nothing of that sort for at least 7 days after surgery :(  Oh well, we will still have so much fun together, we always do!

This last Saturday night we got to babysit my favorite girl Ruby.  We took her to her first ever movie Disney's BRAVE.  It was a cute movie,  the bear at the end was a little scary for a 4 year old so she talked about that for about a hour after,  but we had a blast.  She LOVES Ryan and it is so great to see how he is with kids,  just makes me even more excited for us to have one of our own.

Well it's nap time for me, I'm tired.  I'll post more birthday festivities and vacation fun when we get back on Sunday!

It's summertime!

It's hot here in Vegas!   I knew last summer when we didn't have a relatively hot summer we were going to be punished this year.   :)  Maybe it's the fact I have spent most of the summer so far on hormones and not allowed to swim at times that has made it unbearable for me, but thankfully this last week I have been able to swim alot.

I took Thursday off of work since my friend Melanie was in town for a visit.  We went and got mani pedi's in the morning,  dropped off lunch to my mom who has had a wicked cold for almost 2 weeks and picked up my brother's dog Addie to bring her back to swim with us.

She is HILARIOUS in the pool.

Ryan also made our own volleyball net, for under 30$.  The ones at Leslie's are like $100-$200 and we were like no thanks!   So big props to Walmart and Home Dept we now have our own,  it might be ghetto but it works.   Badminton is a favorite right now.

Some other fun things we were able to do while Melanie was in town was go meet Nycole, Christie and Ruby at Mushashi's.  If you haven't been GO.  It's like a Benihana but SOOOO much better!   Tstomo is the owner and a friend and his sauces are magical.

And my Ruby is such a ham!

Mel and I went out to Stoney's on Saturday night to meet up with some friends.   This is when I realized I am officially a old married woman.  I had fun chatting with my friends but watching the young girls getting drunk playing beer pong and acting like a fool, made me long for a chick flick at home with my hunny. lol

It was sad to see Melanie leave to go home this morning,  but I am hoping she will be back for the NFR in December!  I love that girl!

Other than having a guest this week we haven't done much.  My entire family but me caught a really nasty cold and with my transfer dates for our IVF still up in the air I can't get sick so I haven't been able to see my family all week.  I couldn't even spend Father's Day with my daddy.  I was very sad.  Now more than ever, I celebrate every holiday with my family because I am so grateful I get the opportunity to still have my Dad around!   I was reading a blog the other day from someone that was diagnosed with Myeloma around the same time as my dad.   This person unfortunately didn't respond to the medicines well, nor to the transplant and lost her battle with MM a few short years after being diagnosed.   I take for granted that my dad is doing well,  his body responds to the medicines and he is able to still live his life.  But seeing my dad get a cold and seeing how long it's taken him to get over it makes remember that he does still have this monster inside laying dormant and that I shouldn't take for granted any chance to celebrate him being alive and healthy!  I have said this before, but my dad is amazing and I am so so grateful I was chosen to be his daughter.

P.S. We will be doing a re-do of Father's Day next Sunday when everyone is well again!

In our own little house we celebrated Father's Day like this:

The girls gave Ryan a card,  I should have taken a picture of the front of it too,  it was all about his love for them by picking up their poo.  It was so funny that is the thing Ryan hates the MOST about owning a dog.  So I knew I had to buy it the minute I saw it.

I also joked with Ryan he is the Father to frozen embryo's right now too!   We are waiting to find out if they are doing transfers in July,  but as of now we are not counting on it, it wasn't on their schedule so we are planning on doing our transfer on August 14th our wedding anniversary!  We are praying for success and that next year we are able to celebrate Mother's AND Father's Day with our families with a new addition.   It has been such a long and sometimes hard process, but I know it will be worth it.

And one last sappy item before I log off,   on this day June 18th, 3 years ago  Ryan and I went on our first date together.   It was a Thursday and we had to do it then because I was leaving the next day to go to Arizona for the weekend to visit my brother.  We went to Lindo Michican (sp?) for Mexican food (even though I am not a fan) and afterward went to Smith's  and got a pint of ice cream and stole some plastic spoons from the deli and went across the street to the park and ate our ice cream and talked.  Some days I can't believe it's been 3 years and other days I really don't remember what my life was life before Ryan was in it.  He is definitely my better half and we have had so much love and fun together.  Can't wait to see what the next 3 years bring us...

A weekend in Zion's

Our friends had invited us to Lake Powell this last week, we were unable to go because of all the doctors appointments we have been having. It really made Ryan sad. We haven't been able to do much at all this summer it seems, so Thursday I got a text from Ryan saying we were going out of town this weekend. We were going to Zion's! I was all for it, we are lucky enough to own a house in St. George and so even though it feels like a vacation to us it is someplace our dogs and us are very comfortable in.

We drove up Friday, got everyone settled in and headed out to get some dinner and some custard from Neilsen's. We ran to target since Ryan forgot his shoes and went home and watched a movie.

Saturday morning we hiked The Narrow's at Zion's. Well not the whole thing it takes like 8 hours and we had dogs waiting at home. To get to the Narrow's you ride the shuttle up to the Riverwalk, then walk that about a mile to begin the Narrow's. The Narrow's consists of a steam you hike through about 60-70% water. It's not uphill so it's not hard per se, it's just walking in water and rocks for miles. I only fell once, but that's because anytime we were in the water I was holding Ryan's hand. :).

P.S. don't tell the park rangers we fed a squirrel a cheezit. It's a 100$ fine!

After the hike we stopped at this little place to have a sandwich and came home and crashed for a few hours before going over to our friends house for some pizza and good conversation.

It was a much needed get away for us. We have one more getaway planned to San Diego at the end of this month before Ryan starts PT school July 5th and we hopefully get pregnant in July too!
